FAQs
Are your chickens on organic feed?
Due to the harsh winter months, our pasture chickens often require supplemental feed to maintain their health and energy levels. As natural forage becomes scarce due to cold weather and limited plant growth, providing additional grains and balanced feed ensures they receive proper nutrition. This helps support egg production and keeps the flock thriving throughout the colder season. Felleson Farms does not use organic feed when supplementing.
What kinds of chicken does the farm have?
Felleson Farms has a wide variety of chicken breeds, simply referred to as a barnyard mix, it includes black copper marans, rhode island reds, easter eggers, speckled suxxes’, white leghorns, barred rocks and wyondottes.
When is goat milk available?
Felleson Farms typically only breeds their goats once a year, which means only one season of milking each year as well. Our most common schedule for kidding is early spring, so goats milk is usually available ino the spring months. Contact the farm if you are interested in freeze dried milk availability outside of spring months.
Are you an animal rescue? Can I donate animals to the farm?
Felleson Farms is not an animal rescue, and sees the full lifespan of its animals, from birth to end of life. We believe in locally sourced food, which does include meat products. Our values are that animals raised for consumption have happy and healthy lives to provide the best quality product, which means we keep our scale small. On rare occasions we work with local farmers to rehome animals - please contact us directly as this is case by case handling.
Can I visit the farm?
Felleson Farms does not have standard visiting hours. Please reach out directly to coordinate a time for a visit.
